Disciplinary Report: Apertura 2019 Week 12

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended three players and one coach and fined a team in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 12 games.

The standout suspension goes to Antonio Briseño of Chivas de Guadalajara, who will miss the next four matches. Briseño was given a two-game suspension for serious foul play, with an additional two games added on, per Article 74 of the Regulations for Sanctions, due to the severity of the foul and the injury to Giovani dos Santos that resulted from it.

Teammate Alan Cervantes was given a one-game suspension for using offensive and/or insulting language and/or gestures, while Anderson Santamaría of Atlas was given a one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation after receiving his fifth caution of the season.

Santos Laguna coach Guillermo Almada was given a one-game suspension of lack of respect towards the match officials.

Club Atlético San Luis was fined and given an official warning for racist chanting that occurred in the stands of the Estadio Alfonso Lastras in their game against Tijuana.

Finally, the Disciplinary Committee noted that images have been circulating on social media that appeared to show América keeper Guillermo Ochoa spitting on Briseño; the Committee investigated by interviewing both players and the assistant referee on that side of the field, who all said the event never happened. As a result, no sanction was given to Ochoa.
