The hosts came out looking to get back to winning ways in front of their home fans, and they took the lead just past the half-hour mark. In the 32nd minute, Carlos González was played into the box and he shot past the onrushing Rodolfo Cota to make it 1-0 for Pumas.
The lead lasted just minutes before León found a response, though. In the 38th minute, José Juan Macías took the ball into the box and scored with a diagonal shot to level the game 1-1.
That goal energized León, who soon began to look like the better team. The visitors kept control of possession and limited UNAM’s chances in the attack.
In the second half, León completed the comeback. Pumas was unable to clear away a corner kick, with David Cabrera’s stab at the ball setting it up perfectly for William Tesillo, who pounced on the loose ball before the rest of the defense could react. 1-2 for La Fiera in the 58th minute.
León had a few chances to run up the score, notably a scissor kick attempt by Ángel Mena as well as a powerful effort by Fernando Navarro, but in the end the score remained 1-2.
With the 1-2 win, León reaches 23 points while Pumas still have 18.
