The game started off perfectly for the hosts, who took the lead immediately following kickoff. Just 29 seconds into the game, Miguel Ángel Sansores finished off a low cross at the top of the six-yard box to make it 1-0 for Morelia with the fifth-fastest goal in league history.
That early goal energized Morelia, who continued to control the run of play. Nevertheless, Puebla was able to find the equalizer in the 21st minute, with Christian Marrugo finishing off a rebound given up by Sebastián Sosa to make it 1-1.
Then, just minutes into the second half, the visitors completed the comeback. In the 49th minute, Diego Abella brought the ball down at the top of the box, turned, and fired past Sosa to make it 1-2 for the Franja.
Morelia never stopped pressing for a response, though – not with a playoff spot potentially on the line – and they got their reward in the 63rd minute. Sansores scored his second of the night with a diving header at the far post to tie the game 2-2.
Then, in the 70th, Fernando Aristeguieta put the michoacanos back in front as he volleyed home a cross to make it 3-2 for the hosts.
That goal puts Morelia right on the brink of clinching a playoff berth, and it could soon be guaranteed, depending on the rest of this weekend’s results.
With the 3-2 win, Morelia reaches 27 points while Puebla still has 14.
