Despite numerous chances at both ends, neither Tigres UANL nor Pachuca could find the breakthrough as this one finished 0-0. The result puts Pachuca’s playoff hopes in jeopardy, while Tigres were already assured a spot in the upcoming Liguilla.
The goalkeepers were the stars of the game, with both Nahuel Guzmán and Rodrigo Rey making impressive stops to preserve their respective clean sheets. Tigres had the majority of possession in the first half, but Pachuca – who needed the win more urgently – kept the pressure on and had a chance or two on the break.
In the second half, Tigres had the ball in the net twice, but both times the would-be goal was disallowed, first because the ball had gone out of play, and second for a foul on the keeper.
Pachuca had a number of clear chances of their own, but the Tuzos had trouble keeping their shots on target. Franco Jara, Edwin Cardona, and Víctor Dávila all got into good positions only to send their attempts high, wide, or both.
The draw doesn’t quite mathematically eliminate Pachuca from playoff contention, but it leaves them needing to not only win their final game but also have several other results all go their way.
With the 0-0 draw, Tigres reach 29 points while Pachuca reaches 22.
