Víctor Guzmán had an “adverse analytic result” to the anti-doping test administered on August 10, 2019, during Jornada 4 of the Apertura 2019 season.
ESPN reports that Guzmán tested positive for “a prohibited substance of ‘social use’”. On his Instagram account, Guzmán denied having taken any banned substances and stated that he has requested the “B sample” be tested as well.
The 24-year-old Guzmán had made the move from Pachuca to Chivas de Guadalajara for the Clausura 2020 season, but he was pulled from Guadalajara’s week one match day roster after Chivas learned of the test result. On Monday, Chivas officially announced that Guzmán “will no longer form part of our squad”, and that the transfer will be annulled, with Guzmán returning to Pachuca.
