Neither team could find the breakthrough in this one as Pachuca and Chivas de Guadalajara played out a 0-0 draw. The result keeps the Tuzos winless in the Clausura 2020, while El Rebaño remains unbeaten.
The game started at a brisk pace in front of a sold-out Estadio Hidalgo – filled in large part by away fans. Despite the pro-Chivas atmosphere in their own stadium, Pachuca was still able to dominate large stretches of the game, and they had the better of the chances in the first half.
While Chivas had some notable attempts through José Juan Macías and Fernando Beltrán, Pachuca was able to prevent them from creating too many truly dangerous opportunities. On the other end, the Tuzos created chances of their own through Rubens Sambueza, Franco Jara, and especially Romario Ibarra, who got into good positions several times.
The pace picked up even further in the second half, with both teams looking to open the scoring. The goalkeepers and defenders were all kept busy, but the breakthrough wouldn’t come for either side.
The game got a bit testy in the final stages, with Sambueza and Miguel Ángel Ponce briefly facing off in the 71st minute after Sambueza took offense to a foul by Fernando Beltrán, but the confrontation didn’t escalate.
In the end, Pachuca and Chivas had to settle for a share of the spoils.
With the 0-0 draw, Pachuca reaches one point while Chivas reaches four.
