Querétaro came into this one looking for a positive result after a heavy away loss last weekend, and it didn’t take them long to open the scoring. In the 15th minute, Ariel Nahuelpán scored against his former team with a low shot to the far corner to make it 1-0 for the Gallos.
Querétaro had several chances to add to their lead, but Manuel Gibrán Lajud made a pair of important saves to keep Tijuana in the game.
The Xolos couldn’t generate much offense of their own, though, and inevitably Querétaro added a second. In the 38th minute, Fabián Castillo took the ball into the box and cut it back toward the penalty spot and Marcel Ruiz stabbed it home to make it 2-0.
The hosts continued to have the better of the play in the second half; in quick succession, the Gallos forced another good save out of Lajud and then hit the crossbar through Jeison Lucumí.
Tijuana never looked likely to reduce the deficit, and instead Querétaro sealed the victory in the 83rd minute through Fabián Castillo, who ran onto a through ball and beat Lajud one-on-one to make it 3-0.
With the 3-0 win, Querétaro reaches three points while Tijuana still has three.
