FC Juárez earned a comfortable 3-0 victory against Monarcas Morelia to close out Jornada 3. The result gives the Bravos their first win of the season and keeps them unbeaten at home, while the michoacanos are still winless in the Clausura 2020.
FC Juárez came out attacking as they looked to put their home-field advantage to good use, and their persistence paid off in the 26th minute. Jefferson Intriago sent a long free kick into the box, and Flavio Santos headed it past Sebastián Sosa to make it 1-0 for the hosts.
The Bravos pressed in search of an insurance goal, and they created several good chances, but they all went begging. Morelia never looked likely to find an equalizer, though, and in the second half the game went off the rails for the visitors.
Just minutes after the restart, Juárez won a penalty kick. Darío Lezcano stepped up to take it, and he fooled Sosa with a stutter-step to make it 2-0 in the 52nd minute. The goal was reviewed by VAR for possible encroachment, but in the end it stood.
Then, in the 61st minute, VAR review led to another penalty for the hosts. This time Diego Rolán stepped up to the spot, and he scored with a “Panenka” to give Juárez a commanding 3-0 lead.
Morelia had little hope of mounting a comeback, and the task became even more unlikely in the 68th minute, when José Ortiz was sent off with his second yellow card of the night.
With the numerical advantage, FC Juárez was easily able to see out the rest of the game, and they even had a few chances to run the score up further.
With the 3-0 win, FC Juárez reaches four points while Morelia still has one.
