Atlético San Luis took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Necaxa scored late to earn a 1-1 draw. The result keeps the Rayos unbeaten this season, but winless at home, while the Potosinos are also unbeaten, but winless on the road.
The game started off at a good pace, with several early chances. The visitors had the better of the run of play, and a set piece gave them the lead in the 15th minute, when Matías Catalán finished off a corner kick at the far post to give San Luis the 0-1 lead.
Chances continued to come fast and furious, and Hugo González made several important saves to keep Necaxa in the game.
The hosts were outplayed for long stretches, but they had chances of their own here and there; they hit the woodwork for one, and then Mauro Quiroga had a would-be goal disallowed for offside – but still San Luis held on to the lead.
Then, with time winding down, Daniel Álvarez found the equalizer. In the 88th minute, Álvarez drove toward the endline before beating Carlos Felipe Rodríguez from a tight angle to make it 1-1.
With the 1-1 draw, Necaxa reaches four points while San Luis reaches five.
