Atlas vs Cruz Azul – Jornada 5 Recap & Highlights

Cruz Azul earned their first road win of the season as they beat Atlas 1-3. The result gives La Máquina back-to-back victories while the Rojinegros have now lost two of their last three.

The visitors looked the better side from the start, while Atlas struggled to keep possession or string passes together. Their best chance of the half came in the 10th minute with a shot by Lorenzo Reyes; other than that, it was all Cruz Azul.

Puebla vs Pachuca – Jornada 5 Recap and Highlights

Pachuca snapped a two-game losing streak with an emphatic 0-4 away win against Puebla. The result gives the Tuzos their first victory of the Apertura 2019, while the Poblanos are still looking for their first win.

Pachuca didn’t take long to find the breakthrough, taking the lead in just the 6th minute. Jonathan Copete sent a perfect pass to Víctor Guzmán, who slipped in behind the defense and slotted his shot into the lower corner to make it 0-1.

Campeones Cup: Atlanta vs América – Recap and Highlights

Image result for campeones cupThe Campeones Cup pits the winner of the previous MLS Cup against the winner of Liga MX’s Campeón de Campeones. In the inaugural 2018 edition, Tigres UANL beat Toronto FC.

This year, it was MLS’s turn, as Atlanta United came from behind to beat Club América 3-2.

The game started off well for the hosts, with Atlanta taking the lead in just the 5th minute. Dion Pereira played in Emerson Hyndman, whose low shot to the far post made it 1-0 for the MLs side.

Campeones Cup: Atlanta vs América – Where to Watch

Image result for campeones cupThe Campeones Cup is back for its second edition. The match pits the Major League Soccer champion against the winner of Liga MX’s Campeón de Campeones, and for the 2019 edition, that means it’s Atlanta United vs Club América.

Atlanta is currently sitting in second place in MLS’s Eastern Conference with 42 points, the product of 13 wins, 3 draws, and 9 losses in their 25 games to date; they’ve won four of their last five.

The current Liga MX season started less than a month ago, but América is unbeaten so far. The Águilas are in third place with 10 points, the product of three wins and a draw.

Disciplinary Report: Apertura 2019 Week 4

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended three players in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 4 games.

Joaquín Martínez of Monarcas Morelia was given a one-game suspension for receiving two yellow cards in the same game, and Edwin Cardona of Pachuca was suspended one game for violent conduct.

Santos Laguna filed a petition of non-conformity regarding the red card given to Matheus Doria, but the Disciplinary Committee overturned the petition and gave Doria a one-game suspension for serious foul play.

Apertura 2019 Week 4 Standings & Statistics

Santos Laguna remained in first place with their 4-1 victory against Puebla, while Veracruz remained in last place after their 1-2 loss to Atlas.

Santos is the only perfect team remaining, while Querétaro and América are also unbeaten; on the other hand, Puebla, Pachuca, Toluca, and Veracruz are all still winless.

Veracruz also remained in last place in the Tabla de Cociente with their loss, while relegation rivals FC Juárez and Atlético San Luis also lost and Querétaro and Chivas de Guadalajara won.

Santos Laguna vs Puebla – Jornada 4 Recap and Highlights

Despite going down to 10 men, Santos picked up an emphatic 4-1 victory against Puebla. The result makes it four straight wins for the Laguneros, while the Poblanos are still searching for their first victory.

Santos came out attacking and they had an early opportunity through Adrián Lozano, whose shot hit the crossbar. It was only a matter of time before the hosts found the breakthrough, and it came in the 15th minute. From a corner kick, Ulíses Rivera headed the ball home at the far post to put Santos ahead, 1-0.

Toluca vs América – Jornada 4 Recap and Highlights

América remained unbeaten this season with a 0-1 away win against Toluca. The result is a second straight win for the Águilas, while the Diablos Rojos have lost two in a row and remain winless in the Apertura.

Toluca was looking to get their season on track in front of their home fans, and they created a few goal-scoring opportunities. Felipe Pardo was the most dangerous player for the hosts, but Óscar Jiménez made the necessary saves to keep the Diablos off the board.

Chivas de Guadalajara vs Atlético San Luis – Jornada 4 Recap and Highlights

Chivas de Guadalajara looked confident in this 3-0 victory against Atlético San Luis. The result keeps El Rebaño unbeaten in three – and perfect at home – while the Potosinos have yet to record a point on the road.

The game started off well for the hosts, who took the lead in the 14th minute. Javier López received the ball just outside the box, turned, and sent his low shot just inside the post to make it 1-0 with his first goal in nearly a calendar year.
