The night started off well for the hosts, who came out attacking and took the lead in the 23rd minute. Eduardo del Ángel headed home a cross from the left to put Morelia ahead 1-0.
Mexico beat Trinidad & Tobago 2-0 on Wednesday night in a pre-CONCACAF Nations League friendly.
El Tri put out a younger, less experienced team for this game – with eight of the starters earning their first cap for the senior national team and no one on the roster having more than five caps – but that proved no obstacle to beating T&T.

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended three players and one coach and fined a team in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 12 games.
The standout suspension goes to Antonio Briseño of Chivas de Guadalajara, who will miss the next four matches. Briseño was given a two-game suspension for serious foul play, with an additional two games added on, per Article 74 of the Regulations for Sanctions, due to the severity of the foul and the injury to Giovani dos Santos that resulted from it.
The Mexican national team will be in action on Wednesday night as they face Trinidad and Tobago in an international friendly. The game will serve as preparation for both teams ahead of October’s CONCACAF Nations League games.

Veracruz came out attacking as they looked to end both their record-setting winless streak and a run of five games without a goal. They had more chances, but not many dangerous ones. Toluca struggled to get going in the final third as well, with a lack of creativity hampering the visitors.
América beat 9-man Chivas de Guadalajara 4-1 in the SuperClásico, but it wasn’t all good news for the Águilas as Giovani dos Santos was carried off with a nasty-looking injury. The result snaps a six-game winless run for América and keeps them unbeaten in four, while El Rebaño has now lost three in a row.
América started the game off better and Sebastián Córdova was dangerous from the beginning. The 22-year-old opened the scoring in the 18th minute as he finished off a low cross from Roger Mártinez to make it 1-0 for the hosts.
Neither team could find the breakthrough in this one as Necaxa and FC Juárez played out a 0-0 draw. The result keeps the Rayos unbeaten in two while the Bravos are now unbeaten in three.
The hosts came out attacking and had a pair of early opportunities, but they couldn’t convert them. Then, in the 15th minute, Diego Rolán nearly gave Juárez the lead with his header, but it ended up going over the bar.
