With the two teams knowing the winner would jump over Necaxa – who has a bye this week – into first place, the game started at a good rhythm, with free-flowing play and chances at both ends. Querétaro had the first chance in just the 2nd minute, but Jesús Escoboza’s shot to the far post went just wide.
Veracruz’s world-record winless streak has finally come to an end. After 41 games without a victory, spanning more than a calendar year, Veracruz beat Puebla 1-0 on Tuesday night. The result makes it three losses in a row for the Poblanos, who remain winless in four.

The standout suspension goes to Dario Lezcano of FC Juárez, who was given a two-game suspension for insulting the match officials.
Santos Laguna assistant coach Darwin Ariel Quintana was also suspended for a run-in with officials, with his one-game suspension the result of entering the field of play to confront one of the match officials.
Finally, Ismael Sosa of León was given a one-game suspension for serious foul play.
FC Juárez took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Chivas de Guadalajara scored in stoppage time to earn a 1-2 away win. The result snaps a five-game winless streak for El Rebaño while the Bravos have now lost two of their last three and two in a row at home.
The game started off well for the hosts, who came out attacking and took the lead in the 12th minute. Juárez moved the ball quickly down field and while Diego Rolán’s initial shot was saved, Dario Lezcano was on hand to bury the rebound and make it 1-0 for the Bravos.
Toluca complicated Pachuca’s playoff hopes with a 2-0 home victory. The result ends a two-game winless streak for the Diablos Rojos and keeps them unbeaten in five while the Tuzos have now lost back-to-back games.
The visitors had the better of the chances in the first half, but Alfredo Talavera had a great game in goal to keep Pachuca off the board. He had a little help from the woodwork as well, with the post denying Rubens Sambueza.
Cruz Azul took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Tigres UANL scored in stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw. The result ends the universitarios’ three-game winning streak but keeps them unbeaten in four, while La Máquina remains winless in two.
The game started off well for the visitors, who took the lead in the 18th minute. Jonathan Rodríguez received the ball at the top of the box, turned, and shot past Nahuel Guzmán to make it 0-1 for Cruz Azul.
Atlético San Luis twice took the lead and twice failed to hold it as León came back for a 3-2 victory. The result is a second straight win for La Fiera, who remain unbeaten in three, while the Potosinos have now lost two in a row.
The visitors surprised León by taking the lead in the 20th minute. Nicolás Ibáñez got to a cross just ahead of his marker and his header beat Rodolfo Cota to make it 0-1 for San Luis.
León looked for a response and in the 28th minute, the unfortunate Mario Álvarez redirected a cross into his own net to make it 1-1 with his own-goal.
América strengthened their position in the playoff race with a 2-0 victory against Puebla. The result ends a two-game winless streak for the Águilas, while the Poblanos have now lost two in a row and are winless in three.
Puebla started the game off well, with Brayan Angulo looking particularly dangerous on the wing. In the 21st minute, good interplay between Lucas Cavallini and Angulo almost opened the scoring, but Angulo’s final shot was off target.
