Disciplinary Report: Clausura 2020 Week 3

José Ortiz of Monarcas Morelia and Ronaldo Cisneros of Chivas de Guadalajara were given one-game suspensions for receiving two yellow cards in the same match.

Christian Tabó of Puebla was given a one-game suspension for serious foul play.

2019-2020 Copa MX Round of 16 – Second Legs: Where to Watch

Copa MX logoThe knockout rounds of the 2019-2020 Copa MX continue this week with the second legs of the round of sixteen.

The round of sixteen is a total goals, aggregate score series; away goals are not tiebreakers. Should the aggregate be tied at the end of the second leg, the winner will be determined by penalty kicks – no extra time will be played.

Clausura 2020 Week 3 Standings & Statistics

Pumas UNAM moved into first place with their 1-0 win against Monterrey, while Pachuca dropped into last after their 3-0 loss to León.

There are no perfect teams remaining, although Pumas, Chivas, San Luis, Necaxa, and América are all unbeaten; on the other side of things, Pachuca, Morelia, and Monterrey remain winless.

In the Tabla de Cociente, Atlas dropped into last with their loss.

FC Juárez logo "vs" Monarcas Morelia logoFC Juárez earned a comfortable 3-0 victory against Monarcas Morelia to close out Jornada 3. The result gives the Bravos their first win of the season and keeps them unbeaten at home, while the michoacanos are still winless in the Clausura 2020.

FC Juárez came out attacking as they looked to put their home-field advantage to good use, and their persistence paid off in the 26th minute. Jefferson Intriago sent a long free kick into the box, and Flavio Santos headed it past Sebastián Sosa to make it 1-0 for the hosts.

Necaxa vs Atlético San Luis – Jornada 3 Recap & Highlights

Necaxa logo "vs" Atlético San Luis logoAtlético San Luis took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Necaxa scored late to earn a 1-1 draw. The result keeps the Rayos unbeaten this season, but winless at home, while the Potosinos are also unbeaten, but winless on the road.

The game started off at a good pace, with several early chances. The visitors had the better of the run of play, and a set piece gave them the lead in the 15th minute, when Matías Catalán finished off a corner kick at the far post to give San Luis the 0-1 lead.

Pumas UNAM vs Monterrey – Jornada 3 Recap & Highlights

pumas monterreyA late goal gave Pumas UNAM a 1-0 victory against Monterrey. The result keeps the universitarios unbeaten this season and perfect at home, while the Rayados remain winless and suffered their first loss of the Clausura. 

The hosts looked the better side from the beginning and it was only Marcelo Barovero in goal who kept Pumas from running up the score. Carlos González had several opportunities with Sebastián Saucedo and Fabio Álvarez supporting the attack, but the Argentinian goalkeeper kept Pumas off the board.

Chivas de Guadalajara logo "vs" Toluca logoChivas de Guadalajara took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Toluca came back for a 2-2 draw. The result keeps El Rebaño unbeaten this season but winless in two, while the Diablos Rojos are unbeaten on the road but are also winless in two.

Chivas started the game off strongly and their attacking persistence paid off in the 19th minute. Ronaldo Cisneros chested the ball down for Fernando Beltrán, who scored with a volley from the top of the box to make it 1-0.

León vs Pachuca – Jornada 3 Recap & Highlights

León logo "vs" Pachuca logoLeón earned a comfortable 3-0 victory against Pachuca in a game marred by the serious injury suffered by 17-year-old Eugenio Pizutto in his Liga MX debut.

The result keeps La Fiera perfect at home this season, while the Tuzos remain winless in the Clausura 2020.

In the 9th minute, Pachuca was forced into an early substitution after Luis Chávez was injured, and things never improved from there. León was in complete control of the run of play and in the 14th minute, they took the lead through Ángel Mena, whose shot from outside the box beat Alfonso Blanco to make it 1-0.

The hosts started the game off strongly and they took the lead in the 10th minute. Luis Quiñones received the ball in midfield, ran it into the box, and beat Camilo Vargas to make it 1-0 for Tigres early on.

Cruz Azul vs Santos Laguna – Jornada 3 Recap & Highlights

Cruz Azul logo "vs" Santos Laguna logoCruz Azul earned a comfortable 3-0 home victory against Santos Laguna in this Jornada 3 clash. The result gives La Máquina their first win of the Clausura 2020, while the Laguneros remain winless on the road.

Going into this one, Cruz Azul was the only team in Liga MX without a point earned this season. They came out attacking as they looked to change that, and they got their reward immediately. In just the second minute, Jonathan Rodríguez put Cruz Azul 1-0 up with his goal from just inside the box.
