2018 Balón de Oro Awards

The Liga MX Balón de Oro awards were presented this Saturday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

In total, eleven awards were handed out to recognize outstanding performance in the Apertura 2017 and Clausura 2018 season.

2018 Balón de Oro Voting Open

The candidates for the 2018 Liga MX Balón de Oro awards have been released and fans can have their say in the voting here.

Voting is open for the five “best player by position” awards as well as Best Coach, Rookie of the Year, and Goal of the Year.

The nominees were chosen by a panel of Mexican sports journalists at the end of the Apertura 2017 and Clausura 2018 seasons, with one nominee for each award for each season.

balon de oroAfter a four-year hiatus, the Balón de Oro awards have returned. After several weeks of voting, the awards were handed out in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

In total, fifteen awards were handed out to recognize outstanding performance in the Apertura 2015 and Clausura 2016 seasons.

Special Awards

Fair Play: Pumas UNAM, the team with the fewest cards accumulated throughout the year, was recognized as an example of respecting the essence of Fair Play.

balon de oroThe candidates for the Liga MX Balón de Oro awards have been released and fans can have their say in the voting at balondeoro.votenow.tv (polls close on June 29).

In total, 15 awards will be handed out although not all of them are open to fan voting.

Fans will factor into the “best player by position” awards as well as Best Coach, and, starting on June 21st,  they will be able to vote for the Best Goal and Best Save, which will be entirely fan-determined.
