Jesús Paganoni of Veracruz was given a one-game suspension for receiving two yellow cards in the same game, while Alan Mozo of Pumas UNAM was suspended one game for yellow-card accumulation after picking up his fifth caution of the season.
In the relegation standings, Veracruz dropped into last place with that loss, while relegation rivals Puebla also lost, Lobos BUAP drew, and Querétaro won.

In a game where both teams led at one point or another – and where VAR was used in Liga MX for the first time – Atlas scored in stoppage time for a 4-3 victory against Veracruz. The result gives the Rojinegros just their second win of the season, while the Tiburones Rojos saw their winless streak grow to six games.
The night started off perfectly for the visitors, who took the lead in just the 2nd minute. Diego Chávez got free on the right, got past Leiton Jiménez, and cut the ball back from the end line for Cristian Menéndez, who finished it off to make it 0-1 for Veracruz.

Querétaro earned their first home win of the season with a 2-1 victory against Puebla. The result ends a two-game winless streak for the Gallos Blancos, while the Poblanos have now lost three in a row.
The game started off perfectly for the hosts, who took the lead in just the 2nd minute. Alexis Pérez played in Camilo Sanvezzo, who got into a dangerous spot and beat Moisés Muñoz at the near post to make it 1-0 for Querétaro.
Toluca moved into first place in the table with a 1-2 away win against Lobos BUAP. The result leaves the Licántropos winless in four and drops them to last in the table, while the Diablos Rojos extended their winning streak to six games.
Lobos came out looking for the three points that would give them some breathing room in the relegation fight. However, it was Toluca who struck first, with the visitors taking the lead in just the 10th minute.
Atlas took a 3-0 lead and then held on for a 3-2 victory as Santos Laguna’s comeback attempt fell just short. The result is a second straight home win for the Rojinegros, who earned a little breathing room in the relegation fight, while the Laguneros saw their four-game winning streak halted.
Atlas, languishing at the foot of the table, made a number of changes for this game, including the debut of goalkeeper José Hernández. The new faces made an impact, with Edyairth Ortega giving Atlas the lead in the 21st minute with his shot form outside the box.
