Clausura 2020 Week 2 Standings & Statistics

Chivas de Guadalajara moved into first place after their 0-0 draw with Pachuca, while Cruz Azul dropped into last after their 2-1 loss to Atlético San Luis.

Cruz Azul is the only team not to earn a point so far, although five more have yet to record a win; on the other side of things, three teams are perfect (albeit three who have only played once after their Jornada 1 games were postponed) and four others remain unbeaten.

In the Tabla de Cociente, FC Juárez moved into last after their draw.

Querétaro vs Tijuana – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

Querétaro logo "vs" Tijuana logoQuerétaro earned a comfortable 3-0 victory against Tijuana in this Jornada 2 game. The result gives the Gallos Blancos their first win of the season, while the Xolos suffered their first loss.

Querétaro came into this one looking for a positive result after a heavy away loss last weekend, and it didn’t take them long to open the scoring. In the 15th minute, Ariel Nahuelpán scored against his former team with a low shot to the far corner to make it 1-0 for the Gallos.

Toluca vs Necaxa – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

Toluca logo "vs" Necaxa logoNecaxa ultimately came out on top of this back-and-forth game, earning a 2-3 away win against Toluca. The result gets the Rayos off to a winning start in the Clausura 2020, while the Diablos Rojos suffered their first loss of the season.

The game started off nicely for the visitors, who were playing their first match of the season. In the 22nd minute, Kevin Mercado tried a shot on goal; Alfredo Talavera made the save, but gave up a rebound that Mauro Quiroga put away to make it 0-1 for Necaxa.

América vs Tigres UANL – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

América logo "vs" Tigres logoAmérica beat Tigres UANL by the minimum difference to get the Águilas off to a winning start in the Clausura 2020. The result gives the universitarios their first loss and keeps them winless in two.

Tigres started the game off strongly, but they lost some momentum after captain Guido Pizarro had to leave the field with an injury after just 10 minutes. América got stronger as the game went on and they created several good chances but couldn’t beat Nahuel Guzmán. Memo Ochoa made some good saves of his own at the other end as both goalkeepers shone in the first 45.

Pachuca vs Chivas de Guadalajara – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

Pachuca logo "vs" Chivas logoNeither team could find the breakthrough in this one as Pachuca and Chivas de Guadalajara played out a 0-0 draw. The result keeps the Tuzos winless in the Clausura 2020, while El Rebaño remains unbeaten.

The game started at a brisk pace in front of a sold-out Estadio Hidalgo – filled in large part by away fans. Despite the pro-Chivas atmosphere in their own stadium, Pachuca was still able to dominate large stretches of the game, and they had the better of the chances in the first half.

Monterrey vs Monarcas Morelia – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

Monterrey logo "vs" Morelia logoBoth teams had the lead at one time or another, but in the end Monterrey and Monarcas Morelia had to settle for a 2-2 draw. This was the season opener for the reigning champs (with their Jornada 1 game postponed to February), while the result keeps the michoacanos winless in two.

The hosts had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 21st minute, when Miguel Ángel Sansores was called for a foul on Nicolás Sánchez in the box. VAR upheld the penalty call and in the 25th minute, Sánchez stepped up and converted the spot kick to make it 1-0 for the Rayados.

Atlas vs Puebla – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

Atlas logo "vs" Puebla logoPuebla finished the game with 10 men, but that didn’t stop them from earning a 0-1 away win against Atlas. The result gives the Poblanos their first win in their first game of the season (after their Jornada 1 match was rescheduled for February) while the Rojinegros suffered their first loss of the Clausura.

The hosts started the game off stronger, and all of the chances went their way – but they couldn’t convert any of them. Then, against the run of play, Puebla took the lead. Osvaldo Martínez received the ball in the box and chipped it back toward the top of the six-yard box, where Cristian Menéndez made awkward but effective contact, heading the ball in to make it 0-1 in the 31st minute.

Atlético San Luis vs Cruz Azul – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

San Luis logo "vs" Cruz Azul logoAtlético San Luis made their home-field advantage count with a 2-1 victory against Cruz Azul. The result gives the Potosinos their first win of the Clausura 2020 and keeps them unbeaten, while La Máquina remains winless.

San Luis started the game off strongly, with Nicolás Ibáñez testing Jesús Corona early; Matías Catalán also looked dangerous in the final third. In the 27th minute, the game was briefly interrupted by a dog running onto the field, but Germán Berterame scooped up the friendly pup and carried it over to a steward and play quickly resumed.

FC Juárez vs Pumas UNAM – Jornada 2 Recap & Highlights

FC Juárez logo "vs" Pumas UNAM logoIn a wild game where both teams led at one point or another, FC Juárez and Pumas UNAM ultimately drew 4-4. The result keeps the Bravos winless in the Clausura 2020 – but gives them their first point – while the universitarios remain unbeaten.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 11th minute with one of their first dangerous plays of the game. Mauro Fernández got in behind the defense on the right and played the ball across for Darío Lezcano, who knocked it home to make it 1-0 for FC Juárez.
