The Disciplinary Committee has suspended three players and a coach in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 7 games.
Víctor Milke of Querétaro was given a one-game suspension for serious foul play, while Edson García of Veracruz was suspended one game for denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Antonio Ríos of Toluca was suspended for receiving two yellow cards in the same game, while coach Hernán Cristante was given a one-game suspension for using offensive and/or obscene language and/or gestures.
Lobos BUAP got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory against 10-man Querétaro. The result snaps a four-game winless streak for the Licántropos, while the Gallos Blancos suffered their seventh straight loss as they remain the only team not to register a single point in the Clausura 2019.
The game started off well for the visitors before going rather precipitously downhill. Querétaro took the lead in the 10th minute when Ayron del Valle’s shot from outside the box beat Toño Rodríguez to make it 0-1.
Pumas UNAM claimed bragging rights in the Clásico Capitalino with a 1-0 victory against América. The result gave the universitarios their first home win of the season and their second win in a row, while the Águilas suffered a second straight defeat.
The game was high-energy from the beginning, no surprise in a rivalry match, and the first good chance came in just the 5th minute. América won a free kick in a dangerous position and Nicolás Castillo sent his attempt just over the bar.
Chivas de Guadalajara snagged the bragging rights in the Clausura 2019 Clásico Tapatío with a comfortable 3-0 win against rivals Atlas. The result keeps El Rebaño unbeaten in three and unbeaten at home this season, while the Rojinegros have now lost two in a row.
The game started off well for the hosts, who opened the scoring in just the 7th minute. Atlas lost the ball trying to play out of the back, with Nicolás Pareja’s attempted clearance hitting Carlos Cisneros. Alexis Vega pounced on the rebound and slotted it past José Hernández to make it 1-0 for Chivas.
León continued their climb up the table with a comfortable 3-0 win against 10-man Toluca. The result is a fourth straight win for La Fiera, while the Diablos Rojos remain winless in five (with four losses in that span).
The visitors had the first notable chance through Felipe Pardo, whose long-distance shot went just wide; then, in the 13th minute, Fernando Navarro came within inches for León as his header hit the crossbar.
Tigres UANL saw off a late comeback attempt by Necaxa to pick up a 3-2 victory. The result extends the universitarios’ winning streak to four games, while the Rayos suffered their first loss of the season.
The game started off at a fast pace, with both teams pushing for an early lead. Tigres had the better of the run of play initially, but Necaxa created good chances of their own, and in the 25th minute they came within inches of opening the scoring as Ángel Sepúlveda hit the post.
