Apertura 2017 Week 6 Statistics

Monterrey remained in first with their 4-1 win against Toluca, while Chivas de Guadalajara remained last after their 1-1 draw with Santos Laguna.

Monterrey and Cruz Azul are the only unbeaten teams remaining, while Santos and Chivas are still looking for their first wins.

In the relegation fight, Veracruz remained in last place in the Tabla de Cociente with their 4-1 loss to Pachuca, while relegation rivals Puebla and Querétaro also lost and Atlas drew.

Monterrey vs Toluca – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Monterrey remained unbeaten this season and extended their winning streak to five games with a comprehensive 4-1 win against 10-man Toluca. The result ends the Diablos Rojos’ own unbeaten start to the Apertura 2017.

The Rayados started attacking from the opening whistle, but despite a number of good chances it wasn’t until the 40th minute that they were able to take the lead. Efraín Velarde was called for a handball in the box and Dorlan Pabón converted the ensuing penalty kick to make it 1-0.

Necaxa vs Cruz Azul – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Necaxa took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Cruz Azul came back for a 1-1 draw. The result leaves the Rayos winless in four while La Máquina remains unbeaten this season.

After a fairly even first half, Necaxa took the lead in the 58th minute from a play that started with Marcelo Barovero. The keeper sent a long ball upfield that Carlos González brought down and sent on to Pablo Velázquez, who made it 1-0 from inside the box.

Santos Laguna vs Chivas de Guadalajara – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Chivas de Gualadajara took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Santos Laguna came back for a 1-1 draw. The result ends a two-game losing streak for both teams, but also leaves both teams winless in the Apertura 2017.

Santos started the game off better and they created a few early chances through Néstor Araujo and Djaniny Tavares, although they were mainly limited to shots from distance and didn’t truly trouble Rodolfo Cota.

Puebla vs León – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Puebla remained winless at home this season as León earned a 0-1 victory. The result is a second straight road win for La Fiera, while Puebla saw their two-game unbeaten run come to a halt.

The visitors started the game off well and enjoyed the majority of possession. Then, in the 20th minute, Alonso Zamora was called for a foul on Mauro Boselli inside the box, giving León a penalty kick. Boselli himself stepped up to take it and he converted it to make it 0-1.

América vs Tigres UANL – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Tigres UANL twice took the lead but twice failed to hold it as América came back for a 2-2 draw. The result ends a four-game winning streak for the Águilas but keeps them unbeaten in five while the universitarios remain unbeaten in two.

With three games in a week to contend with, Tuca Ferretti decided to rotate his front line, giving André-Pierre Gignac and Eduardo Vargas a rest and starting Enner Valencia. The Ecuadorian seized his opportunity and scored a brace for the visitors.

Querétaro vs Tijuana – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Tijuana earned a second consecutive win with a 1-3 victory against 10-man Querétaro. The result ends a three-game unbeaten streak for the Gallos Blancos and leaves them winless in two.

The game started off slowly with the two teams looking evenly matched. Neither side was able to take control of the game in the early going, but at the half-hour mark Tijuana struck. In the 30th minute, Luis Chávez’s shot from distance deflected off Luis Mendoza, wrong-footing Tiago Volpi and giving the Xolos the 0-1 lead.
