Apertura 2018 Week 6 Standings and Statistics

Cruz Azul remained in first place with their 1-0 victory against Toluca, while Atlas remained last after their 2-0 loss to Puebla.

Cruz Azul remains the only unbeaten team left, while Atlas remains the only winless one.

In the relegation standings, Lobos BUAP remained last with their 1-2 loss to Monterrey, while relegation rivals Veracruz also lost and Puebla and Querétaro won.

Puebla vs Atlas – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Puebla got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Atlas. The result snaps a three-game winless streak for the Poblanos, while the Rojinegros remain both winless and goalless in the Apertura 2018.

Puebla came out attacking and Alejandro Chumacero had an early chance, but Omar González made a timely defensive intervention to keep the hosts off the board. Atlas weathered the early pressure and then created a good chance of their own through Andrés Andrade, but he was denied by Nicolás Vikonis.

Chivas de Guadalajara vs Necaxa – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Chivas de Guadalajara earned their first home win since October 2017 with a 1-0 victory against Nexaca. The result gives el Rebaño back-to-back wins, while the Rayos remain winless on the road and winless in three overall.

Chivas came out attacking as they looked to end their long home winless streak. Ángel Zaldívar had an early chance with a header, but he couldn’t keep his attempt on target. Zaldívar repeatedly caused problems for Necaxa’s defense, and in the 24th minute he won a penalty. Continue reading

Pumas UNAM vs Querétaro – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Querétaro earned their first road win of the season with a 0-1 victory against Pumas UNAM. The result keeps the Gallos Blancos unbeaten in two – and ends a three-game winless run – while the universitarios have now lost two in a row.

The hosts were without Alejandro Arribas and Luis Quintana, and their defense looked shaky as a result. Goalkeeper Alfredo Saldívar was kept busy, but he couldn’t keep the visitors from taking the lead in the 13th minute, when Camilo Sanvezzo and Marcel Ruiz combined well before Ruiz made it 0-1.

Monarcas Morelia vs Pachuca – Jornada 6 Recap and Highlights

Monarcas Morelia took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Pachuca came back for a 1-1 draw. The result ends a two-game winning streak for the michoacanos, but keeps them unbeaten in five, while the Tuzos remain unbeaten in three.

Pachuca came out attacking as they looked to build on their first win of the season from this weekend. The Tuzos kept Sebastián Sosa busy in goal and they even came as close as hitting the crossbar through Franco Jara, but the breakthrough wouldn’t come.
