Copa MX Disciplinary Report: C16 Llave 2 Second Legs

disciplinary reportThe Disciplinary Committee has suspended five players and two coaches in the aftermath of the fourth round of games in the Clausura 2016 Copa MX.

Leones Negros is by far the most affected by the suspensions; coach Daniel Guzmán was given a one-game suspension for constantly protesting the referee crew’s decisions, while Daniel Guzmán Jr. was suspended for two games for insulting the match officials. In addition, the Universidad de Guadalajara’s Alberto García was suspended for serious foul play.

standings and statisticsAt the end of Llave 2 of the Clausura 2016 Copa MX, Chivas de Guadalajara, Tijuana, Pachuca, Mineros de Zacatecas, Veracruz, and Venados top their respective groups, with Necaxa and Coras Tepic currently the two best second-place teams. Dorados de Sinaloa earned their first victory in all competitions in 2016 with a 2-1 victory over FC Juárez on Tuesday night. However, Juárez still claimed the bonus Llave point with their 3-2 aggregate victory. It was the visitors who took the lead in this one, with Mario Ortiz putting Juárez in front in the 30th minute with a precise header. Continue reading

Cafetaleros took the lead but couldn’t hold it as they fell 1-2 to Venados on Tuesday night. The visitors also claimed the bonus Llave point thanks to their 3-1 aggregate victory. Amaury Escoto put the home team in front in just the third minute, but a second-half comeback ensured Venados would take all three points as Cafetaleros remain winless in the Copa MX. Monterrey took the lead but couldn’t hold it as they settled for a 2-2 draw with Celaya on Tuesday night. The draw was still enough to give the Rayados the bonus Llave point thanks to their 4-2 aggregate victory. Aldo de Nigris opened the scoring for the hosts in just the third minute of the match, when he finished off a free kick to make it 1-0. However, Celaya would soon tie the game with Rafael Murguía leveling the match in the 13th minute.  Continue reading

Coras Tepic beat Tijuana 2-0 in Hernán Cristante’s debut as coach, and also claimed the bonus Llave point for their 4-3 aggregate victory. This was the Xolos’ first loss in the Clausura 2016 Copa MX, but they are still in first place in the group.  Continue reading

León took the lead but couldn’t hold it as they settled for a 2-2 draw with Mineros de Zacatecas. The result gives Mineros the bonus Llave point for their 4-2 aggregate win. La Fiera took the lead in this one in the 22nd minute, when Miguel Ibarra finished off a cross from Maximiliano Moralez to make it 1-0. But Mineros would tie the game before halftime, when Juan Carlos Enríquez’s header found the net in the 33rd minute. Continue reading

copa corona mxJaguares de Chiapas 2-3 Alebrijes de Oaxaca
Alebrijes de Oaxaca scored early and late as they earned a 2-3 victory against Jaguares de Chiapas, which also gave them the bonus Llave point for their 2-3 aggregate victory. The visitors opened the scoring in the 7th minute through Diego Mengui, who headed home a corner kick to put Oaxaca in front. Jaguares found an equalizer in the 29th minute, when Daniel González scored a golazo from the edge of the box, but Juan Manuel Cavallo put Alebrijes back in front before halftime with his 42nd-minute goal.
