Clausura 2018 Disciplinary Report: Week 8

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended three players and two assistant coaches and upheld a red card appeal in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 8 games.

Dieter Villalpando of Necaxa and Cris Martínez of Santos Laguna were given one-game suspensions for serious foul play, while David Cabrera of Pumas UNAM was suspended one game for using offensive or insulting language and/or gestures.

Disciplinary Report: Clausura 2018 Week 5

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended six players and upheld a red card appeal in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 5 games.

The standout suspension goes to Francisco Rodríguez of Lobos BUAP, who was given a two-game suspension for serious foul play. Jorge Hernández of Pachuca and Osmar Mares of Veracruz were suspended for the same reason, but for only one game each.

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended eight players, upheld a red card appeal, and opened an investigation into a coach in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 15 games.

Alexander Mejía of León and Jaine Barreiro of Atlas were given one-game suspensions for denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity, while Osvaldo González of Toluca and Nicolás Castillo of Pumas UNAM were suspended one game for a lack of respect towards the match officials.

Disciplinary Report: Apertura 2017 Week 6

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended two players and heard a red-card appeal in the aftermath of this week’s Jornada 6 games.

For the second consecutive week, Atlas filed a petition of nonconformity regarding the red card given to Jaine Barreiro, and for the second consecutive week, the Disciplinary Committee upheld the petition, clearing Barreiro to play in Atlas’s next game.

Disciplinary Report: Apertura 2017 Week 5


The Disciplinary Committee has suspended one player and heard three red card appeals in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 5 games.

América, Atlas, and Chivas de Guadalajara filed petitions of nonconformity regarding the red cards given to Edson Álvarez, Jaine Barreiro, and Jair Pereira, respectively, and all three petitions were upheld, meaning those three players have been cleared to participate in Jornada 6.

América Appeals Goltz Red Card

Logo AmericaThe second leg of the Apertura 2016 Gran Final saw five players ejected – four from the field and one from the bench – as the match finished 9 vs 9.

Club América, who received three of the red cards, has filed a petition of non-conformity regarding the straight red given to Paolo Goltz in the 108th minute of the game.

That card was one of three handed out following a brawl between the teams, but Goltz was not one of the primary participants in that event.

The Disciplinary Committee “will analyze the presented evidence” and make a ruling later in the week.

All three suspensions were given to Puebla players. Francisco Torres was suspended one game for serious foul play; Patricio Araujo will miss a game for denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity; and Jerónimo Amione earned his own suspension for yellow-card accumulation after picking up his fifth caution of the season.

Tigres UANL appealed the red cards given to both Guido Pizarro and Hugo Ayala. The Disciplinary Committee upheld the appeal regarding Ayala, who is now cleared to play in Jornada 12, but dismissed the one regarding Pizarro, who was given a one-game suspension.

Monterrey and Necaxa both submitted red card appeals following the ejections of Dorlan Pabón and Marcos González, respectively. The Rayados’ petition was upheld, with Pabón cleared to play in Jornada 10, while Necaxa’s was denied. As a result, González will be suspended one game for serious foul play.
