CCL: Sporting Kansas City vs Toluca – First Leg Recap and Highlights

Toluca faces an uphill battle to advance in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League after suffering a 3-0 loss to Sporting Kansas City in the first leg of their semifinal series.

Toluca started the game off well and found an early chance through Luis Mendoza, but his third-minute shot went just wide of the post. After that, though, Kansas City began to control the game.

Clausura 2019 Copa MX Round of Sixteen Set

The group stage of the Clausura 2019 Copa MX wrapped up this week, and 10 teams from Liga MX and six from Ascenso MX advanced to the knockout rounds.

All the group winners moved on, as did the seven best second-place teams. Teams were seeded based on total points earned and paired up for the Round of Sixteen, which will take place between February 26th and 27th.

CCL: Alianza vs Monterrey – First Leg Recap and Highlights

Alianza and Monterrey left it all to play for in the second leg of their Round of Sixteen series after a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night.

The hosts came out with a high press as they looked to surprise Monterrey, but they couldn’t do much to trouble Marcelo Barovero in goal. The pressure did keep the Rayados from mounting any incisive attacks of their own, however, despite attempts by Dorlan Pabón and Avilés Hurtado to get the offense into gear.

CCL: Marathón vs Santos Laguna – First Leg Recap and Highlights

Santos Laguna is firmly in the driver’s seat of this CONCACAF Champions League Round of Sixteen series after picking up a 2-6 away win against Marathón.

Santos took the game to the Hondurans from the beginning, and they opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Marcelo Correa received a long throw, turned past his defender, and fired past the keeper from a tight angle to make it 0-1 for the visitors.

CCL: Saprissa vs Tigres UANL – First Leg Recap and Highlights

Saprissa edged out Tigres UANL in the first leg of their Round of Sixteen series with a 1-0 victory, a scoreline that still leaves a lot to play for in next week’s second leg.

Tigres had chances throughout the game, with their first coming in the 7th minute. Eduardo Vargas played in Enner Valencia, but his shot was blocked by the defense. Vargas then tried his luck with a shot from outside the box that the keeper sent out for a corner kick.

2019 CCL Round of 16 First Legs: Where to Watch

The 2019 CONCACAF Champions League gets underway this week with the first legs of the round of sixteen. Four Liga MX teams are involved in this tournament, with the winners and runners-up of the Apertura 2017 and Clausura 2018 seasons qualifying for the continental championship.

The Round of Sixteen consists of a home-and-away aggregate goals series; away goals are tiebreakers. If both aggregate score and away goals are equal at the end of the second leg, a penalty shootout will determine which team advances.

Apertura 2018 Copa MX Quarterfinals: Where to Watch

The postponement of the Round of 16 game between Monterrey and Zacatepec has had a cascading effect on the scheduling of the Apertura 2018 Copa MX knockout rounds.

This week will see Monterrey and Zacatepec play their postponed match as well as three of the quarterfinal games; the fourth quarterfinal, between the winner of Monterrey/Zacatepec and Querétaro, will be held during the upcoming FIFA break.

Apertura 2018 Copa MX Round of 16 Results

The Apertura 2018 Copa MX Round of Sixteen was held this week, with seven teams so far – six Liga MX and one Ascenso MX – having booked their spot in the quarterfinals.

The game between Monterrey and Zacatepec was postponed due to weather and field conditions; they will play next Tuesday, while the rest of the remaining teams will contest their quarterfinal games. The winner of Monterrey/Zacatepec will face Querétaro in the quarterfinals during the next FIFA break, after which the competition should return to its original schedule.

Apertura 2018 Copa MX Round of Sixteen – Where to Watch

The knockout rounds of the Apertura 2018 Copa Corona MX begin this week, with 12 teams from Liga MX and four from Ascenso MX facing off in the Round of Sixteen.

The Round of Sixteen consists of single-elimination games held at the home of the higher seed. Should the teams be tied at the end of the regulation 90 minutes, advancement will be decided by a penalty shootout; no extra time will be played.

Apertura 2018 Copa MX Round of 16 Set

With Atlas and Zacatepec completing their delayed Jornada 6 game this Thursday, the group stage of the Apertura 2018 Copa Corona MX has officially wrapped up, with 16 teams advancing to the knockout rounds.

Twelve Liga MX teams and four from Ascenso MX will now face off as they look for a spot in the quarterfinals. The Round of Sixteen will be played between September 25th and 27th, with the exact dates and times to be announced shortly.
