Clausura 2018 Disciplinary Report: Week 7

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended four players and one coach in the aftermath of this week’s Jornada 7 games.

Toluca’s head coach, Hernán Cristante, was given a one-game suspension for constantly protesting the referee crew’s decisions.

Clausura 2018 Week 7 Statistics

América moved into first place in the table with their 4-1 win against Monarcas Morelia, while Atlas remained in last despite their 1-1 draw with Necaxa.

América is the only unbeaten team remaining after Pumas UNAM suffered their first loss of the season.

In the relegation fight, Veracruz remained last despite their 1-2 victory against Pumas, while relegation rivals Puebla also won and Querétaro, Atlas, and Lobos BUAP drew.

Santos Laguna vs León – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Santos Laguna came from behind to earn a comprehensive 5-1 victory over León. The result is a second straight win for the Laguneros, who are unbeaten in five, while La Fiera suffered their third four-goal loss in their last four games.

The game started off perfectly for the visitors, though, as León took the lead in the very first minute. Jonathan Orozco let a back-pass bounce away directly into the path of Mauro Boselli, who took advantage and sent the ball into the empty net to make it 0-1 for León.

Querétaro vs Chivas de Guadalajara – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Chivas de Guadalajara scored in stoppage time to snatch a 2-2 draw with Querétaro. The result snaps a three-game losing streak for El Rebaño, although they remain winless in four, while the Gallos Blancos are unbeaten in two.

Chivas came out attacking and Tiago Volpi was kept busy in goal to keep the visitors off the board. But it was the hosts who took the lead in the 18th minute. Edson Puch finished off a quick counterattack to give Querétaro the 1-0 lead.

América vs Monarcas Morelia – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

América earned an emphatic 4-1 victory against Monarcas Morelia to put them top of the table, pending the rest of this week’s results. The win keeps the Águilas unbeaten this season, while the michoacanos have now lost two in a row.

The game started off well for the hosts, who took the lead in just the 5th minute. Jérémy Ménez sent a long cross into the box, which Cecilio Domínguez corralled. He drove towards goal, cut around his defender, and beat Sebastián Sosa to make it 1-0 for América.

Lobos BUAP vs Tigres UANL – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Despite playing 11 v 10 for nearly 70 minutes, Lobos BUAP couldn’t break the deadlock as they drew 0-0 with Tigres UANL. The result keeps the Licántropos unbeaten in two while the universitarios remain winless in three.

Lobos came out attacking and Nahuel Guzmán was forced into several good saves to keep the hosts off the board. Then in the 21st minute, Rafael Carioca picked up a straight red card to leave Tigres with just 10 men, and it seemed like Lobos would take control of the game.

Atlas vs Necaxa – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Atlas took the lead but couldn’t hold it as they drew 1-1 with Necaxa on Tuesday night. The result lifts the Rojinegros out of last place – pending Lobos BUAP’s result – but keeps them winless in two, while the Rayos are now unbeaten in four.

The hosts came out attacking as they looked to end their poor start to the season. Luis Reyes had the first chance of the game in the second minute, but his shot was off target. Atlas looked dangerous early on, but Marcelo Barovero kept them off the board.
