Disciplinary Report: Apertura 2018 Week 7

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended two players in the aftermath of this weekend’s Jornada 7 games.

Roger Martínez of Club América was given a one-game suspension for violent conduct, while teammate Bruno Valdez was given a one-game suspension for serious foul play.

Both players will miss the Águilas’ Jornada 8 game.

Apertura 2018 Week 7 Standings & Statistics

Cruz Azul remained in first place with their 1-1 draw with Santos Laguna, while Atlas remained in last with their 0-1 loss to Chivas de Guadalajara.

Cruz Azul remains the only unbeaten team left, while Atlas remains the only winless one.

In the relegation standings, Lobos BUAP remained last with their 2-0 loss to relegation rival Querétaro, while Puebla also lost and Veracruz won.

Santos Laguna vs Cruz Azul – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Cruz Azul took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Santos Laguna came back for a 1-1 draw. The result keeps the Laguneros unbeaten at home this season, but winless in two overall, while La Máquina remains unbeaten in the Apertura 2018.

The visitors had more possession in the first half, but they were stymied by a well-organized defense. Cruz Azul couldn’t break through while Santos sat back, absorbed the pressure, and then looked to strike on the counter.

Toluca vs León – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Toluca took the lead but couldn’t hold it as León came back for a 1-2 away win. The result is a second straight win for La Fiera, who have now won three of their last four, while the Diablos Rojos now have back-to-back losses.

The game started off well for the hosts, who took the lead in just the 6th minute. Cristian Borja sent a cross into the box; the defense tried to clear it, but the ball fell for Rodrigo Salinas, whose left-footed shot made it 1-0 for Toluca early on.

Querétaro vs Lobos BUAP- Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Querétaro remained unbeaten at home this season with a 2-0 victory against Lobos BUAP. The result is a second straight win for the Gallos Blancos, who are now unbeaten in three, while the Licántropos have now lost three in a row and remain winless in five.

The hosts looked the stronger side in the first half, although clear goal-scoring chances were few and far between for both teams. The first opportunity of note didn’t come until the 20th minute, when Abraham González tried his luck from outside the box, but his shot went harmlessly high.

Monterrey vs Monarcas Morelia – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Monterrey took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Monarcas Morelia came back for a 2-2 draw. The result keeps the Rayados unbeaten in three while the michoacanos are now unbeaten in six.

Monterrey looked the better side from the kickoff and they took the lead just six minutes in. Dorlan Pabón put a free kick on goal; Sebastián Sosa punched it away, but the rebound fell to John Stefan Medina, who made it 1-0 for the hosts.

Necaxa vs Tigres UANL – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Necaxa took the lead but couldn’t hold it as a stoppage-time penalty gave Tigres UANL a 1-1 draw. The result keeps the Rayos unbeaten at home but winless in four overall, while the universitarios remain winless on the road but unbeaten in two overall.

Necaxa came out attacking and they had the first chance of the game in the 2nd minute, when Dieter Villalpando won the ball, got to the box, nutmegged Jorge Tores Nilo, and sent the ball in, only for Nahuel Guzmán to grab it.

Veracruz vs Tijuana – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

In a game delayed by a second-half power outage, Veracruz earned their first home win of the season with a 1-0 victory against Tijuana. The result snaps a two-game losing streak for the Tiburones Rojos, while the Xolos are now winless in six.

The night started off well for the hosts, with the Tiburones taking the lead in just the 8th minute. Bryan Carrasco sent a long ball into the box for Diego Chávez, whose header made it 1-0 for Veracruz early on.

América vs Pumas UNAM – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Pumas UNAM twice took the lead and twice failed to hold it as 9-man América came back for a 2-2 draw in the Apertura 2018 edition of the Clásico Capitalino. The result keeps the Águilas unbeaten at home this season but winless in three overall, while the universitarios remain winless in four.

The night started off perfectly for the visitors, with Pumas taking the lead 19 seconds into the game. Martín Rodríguez found Felipe Mora, whose header beat Agustín Marchesín to make it 0-1 immediately following the kickoff.

Pachuca vs Puebla – Jornada 7 Recap and Highlights

Pachuca got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Puebla. The result keeps the Tuzos unbeaten in four while the Poblanos saw a two-game unbeaten streak halted as they remain winless on the road this season.

The hosts had the better of the attacking chances in the first half, with Erick Aguirre and Franco Jara particularly active, but they couldn’t find the breakthrough.
